Chicago’s new Apple store has a giant MacBook for a roof

Construction is underway at the new Apple store in downtown Chicago, and today, as reported by DNA Chicago , a new design element was added — a giant Apple logo. A construction crew laid out the logo on the store’s silver, rectangular roof, making it look like a giant MacBook. It stayed for less than an hour before crews rolled up the logo and removed it. Designed by London-based Foster+Partners, the store is a relocation of Apple’s original Chicago flagship and is a 20,000-square-foot space which, upon completion, will have all-glass walls and a thin, carbon fiber roof... that looks like a MacBook. The first renderings were originally unveiled in 2015, and touted the project’s “echo” to Prairie Style homes. Canon’s long awaited 6D Mark II is a huge upgrade, but it’s missing 4K video

  Canon is updating two of its camera lineups today with the announcement of the new 6D Mark II and Rebel SL2. Both look like solid new cameras — the 6D especially, since it’s been anticipated for even longer than it’s been rumored. But they’re both still missing one of the most requested features: 4K video. The $1,999 6D Mark II is a follow-up to 2012’s Canon 6D, a slightly cheaper and slightly less capable full-frame sibling to Canon’s popular 5D series. It’s been a long wait, but judging from the specs, that wait might be worth it when the 6D Mark II goes on sale in July. WhatsApp rises as a major force in news media

WhatsApp is becoming one of the prevailing ways people discover and discuss news, according to a study. But use of the messaging app appears to vary widely between countries. In Malaysia, more than 50% of those surveyed said they used WhatsApp for news at least once a week. But in the US, the figure was only 3%, and in the UK it was 5%. The Digital News Report also indicates the Brexit debate has led to growing mistrust of the UK's media. It said only 43% of respondents declared that the news could be trusted - down from 50% last year - with the BBC in particular criticised for having both a pro-EU bias and failing to expose the "distortions" of the leave campaign. Private is popular The research was carried out by the Reuters Institute For The Study of Journalism and covered 34 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia, in addition to Taiwan and Hong Kong.
